The testing procedure
The procedure
On arrival the tester will discuss with the customer the best way to proceed in order to minimise disruption.
The tester will go from room to room categorising all electrical appliances and extension leads. Each appliance will be unplugged, tested in situ and plugged in again.
Each item will be subjected to the following steps:
- Visual inspection of cable and case for damage.
- The plug cover will be removed. Visual check of fuse rating and wiring integrity.
- Electrical measurement of insulation with a Seaward Primetest 100.
- The earth continuity will be measured.
- A pass or fail sticker will be attached.
- A written record of the results will be made.
- Plugs which are damaged or with damaged wiring will be rectified.
On completion a complete report will be provided detailing any action required and recommending the interval before testing is required again.
